Surpass Behavioral Health is a trusted provider of clinic-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children and adolescents. We understand that every child is unique, and our compassionate team is dedicated to providing high-quality care tailored to your child’s needs. With a focus on early intervention and long-term success, we are dedicated to helping your child achieve their goals.
Clinic-Based ABA therapy, also known as Center-Based ABA therapy, is a structured and evidence-based treatment approach that provides intensive therapy and support for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children receive ABA therapy in a dedicated facility that offers a nurturing and fun environment. Highly trained and compassionate professionals utilize proven techniques to teach essential social skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and foster independence.
Through settings that emulate the community and home, center-based ABA therapy offers a comprehensive approach to support children in reaching their full potential.
Clinic-based ABA therapy utilizes an individualized, 1:1 approach to treatment where children engage in various activities designed to promote communication, social interaction, independence, and academics. It begins with a comprehensive assessment of each child’s unique strengths and areas for improvement. Based on these assessments, personalized treatment plans are created to help children achieve specific goals and objectives.
Play is a fundamental component of center-based ABA therapy and through play-based interventions, therapists create engaging and enjoyable activities that simultaneously target specific skills. As your child progresses, treatment plans are adjusted to incorporate new behavior targets and advance newly learned skills. By combining tailored treatment plans, nurturing therapists, and ongoing monitoring, clinic-based ABA maximizes the potential for progress and success.
Surpass offers ABA programs with both daytime and afternoon availability with session lengths based on your child’s needs. Our clinic-based ABA programs take place in interactive facilities that combine learning and fun. Through a play-based approach, your child will remain engaged in their ABA sessions to ensure success and long-term behavior change.
Before starting ABA sessions, you and your child will have an initial meeting with one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). During this meeting, our BCBA will evaluate your child’s current behavior and skill levels, allowing us to identify their strengths and areas for improvement. Based on this assessment, we will create a personalized treatment plan that is tailored to your child’s unique needs. Our team of dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) will work closely with your child to implement the plan of care, which includes specific ABA strategies, targeted skills, and positive reinforcement.
Monitoring and tracking progress is a vital aspect of ABA therapy. We believe in regular reassessments to ensure that your child is making meaningful progress towards their goals. Every six months, we conduct reassessment meetings where we meet with you, as well as any other caregivers involved in your child’s care. These meetings provide an opportunity to review progress made outside of the center and discuss any concerns or observations. If necessary, adjustments to the treatment plan will be made to ensure continued growth and success for your child.
The process of pairing plays a crucial role in our program as it fosters a strong and trusting relationship between our RBTs and your child. At the start of each ABA session, our RBTs prioritize building a connection with your child through engaging in free-play and enjoyable conversations. This time allows the RBT to establish a positive rapport, promoting a sense of comfort and trust. By creating a nurturing and supportive relationship, our ABA treatments become more effective and meaningful. We understand the significance of building a strong foundation of trust, as it forms the basis for successful learning and progress in your child’s ABA journey.
At our ABA clinic, we aim to create engaging and play-based activities that incorporate effective ABA techniques like discrete trial training (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), and token economy to keep your child actively involved in their ABA sessions. Our programs are designed to be highly customized, taking into account your child’s individual needs and preferences. The duration and types of activities are tailored specifically to your child, ensuring a personalized approach. Scheduled activities typically range from 15 to 30 minutes, with the length adjusted based on your child’s progress.
Our clinic environment is thoughtfully designed to support your child’s development. It is filled with age-appropriate toys, gross motor equipment such as trampolines and swings, and sensory spaces like ball pits. We also have independent learning spaces where your child can practice specific tasks such as sitting and completing tasks at a table. We also offer support with essential skills such as potty training and independence, including tasks like making a bed.
Parent involvement is an integral part of our ABA programs, and is necessary for your child’s long-term success. In order to support our families, we incorporate two hours of parent training each month. During training, parents and caregivers will learn about the different ABA techniques, how to incorporate ABA strategies across other environments such as the home and community settings. By actively involving parents in their child’s treatment, we foster a collaborative partnership that empowers parents to play an active role in their child’s growth and development.
Clinic-based ABA therapy offers several benefits, including a structured and nurturing environment, individualized treatment, play-based interventions, progress monitoring, and routine treatment plan modifications. These key aspects of clinic-based ABA therapy not only offer a holistic approach to each client but also address specific needs effectively.
The session length is determined based on your child’s progress and attention span. Initially, sessions may be shorter to ensure your child remains engaged and successful. As your child progresses, session lengths may increase. On average, clinic-based ABA therapy sessions last between 2 to 4 hours, but there are full-time programs where the sessions may last 4 to 6 hours.
At Surpass Behavioral Health, we offer ABA programs with both daytime and afternoon availability, allowing flexibility to accommodate your schedule.
The frequency of clinic-based ABA therapy sessions varies based on the child’s needs and treatment plan. Sessions may be scheduled anywhere from 2 to 5 days per week, depending on the child’s goals and requirements.
While parents may not actively participate in the ABA therapy sessions themselves, at Surpass Behavioral Health we believe that parent involvement is crucial for your child’s long-term success. That’s why we offer parent sessions where we encourage you to learn and reinforce the techniques used during therapy so that you can incorporate them at home. Also, parents can be part of each treatment plan modification.
