Navigating the Holidays with a Child with Autism
The holiday season is a time for celebration but can bring challenges for children with autism. Here are tips to prepare your child for the holidays.
Each year in April, individuals and organizations worldwide celebrate Autism Awareness Month to help raise awareness for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and increase understanding and inclusivity within their communities. There are a variety of ways you can participate in showing support and making a difference.
Throughout April, communities will gather to show their support for individuals with autism by hosting a local event, such as a 5k walk and/or run, festival, or family fun day. We encourage you to attend or volunteer with your family, friends, and coworkers.
There are many resources available online and throughout your local community to help increase your knowledge about autism. We encourage everyone to do their part in understanding what autism is and finding effective ways to interact with individuals with an autism diagnosis.
Is your company, physician’s office, or school looking for a way to share information with your organization about autism? Our team would be happy to connect with you to share educational resources or collaborate on an initiative for Autism Awareness Month. Contact us for more information at [email protected].
Creating a local Spirit Week is a simple way to show your support for Autism Awareness Month. Feel free to join our 29 clinics during our company-wide spirit week, April 17th-21st. Hosting a Spirit Week is an excellent opportunity for schools, companies, and/or other community groups.
MONDAY: Jersey Day
TUESDAY: Tie Dye Day
WEDNESDAY: Wacky Wednesday
THURSDAY: Wear Blue for Autism Awareness Month
FRIDAY: Superhero Day
The most important thing you can do during Autism Awareness Month is to be an advocate for children, teens, and adults with autism. Our hope is for everyone to feel welcomed and treated with respect. When everyone works together, we can increase acceptance and make a difference!
