Navigating the Holidays with a Child with Autism
The holiday season is a time for celebration but can bring challenges for children with autism. Here are tips to prepare your child for the holidays.
Introducing Surpass Behavioral Health, formerly Chancelight Autism Services. With clinics founded as early as 2000, Surpass has been rooted in our desire to help others. We’re committed to fostering a company that values and empowers everyone. Surpass is a part of the Graham Holdings family, an organization with a strong healthcare background and vision for providing meaningful change. Through our partnership, we positively impact our clients and families by establishing behavioral therapy and support clinics that are built on a foundation of quality care and outstanding service.
Surpass CEO, Daniel Byrdsong, knows what it is like firsthand to be impacted by a diagnosis of a developmental disability for your child. “My son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of 2 and a half years old. At the time he was diagnosed, my son was non-verbal, had very little eye contact, and was unable to communicate his needs and wants to me or my wife. I still remember the feeling of searching for hope that my son would be able to overcome this. I remember the ups and downs of his therapy and the excitement when he reached every new milestone. I am blessed to say my son has now just finished kindergarten where he started in the regular classroom right alongside his peers without the need for any classroom aides,” said Byrdsong.
Everyone has a story that has brought them to where they are now. Our purpose is to come together and help those with autism be the best they can be. We aim to be a reliable support system for our clients and families who need a trusted resource or a listening ear.
The Surpass logo represents what we believe in. The first line symbolizes the recognition that starting is not easy and not everyone is successful on their first try. The second line represents passionate progress and the fortitude it takes to keep trying. The third line reaches the furthest, showing that with a solid foundation and support, our clients, their families, and our staff will be able to reach goals and surpass expectations. You will notice the lines are in an eclipse shape and do not have a true end. This was an intentional choice by our team because no matter who you are, your circumstances, or your challenges, our leadership team believes there is no end to progress. There is no limit to what one can achieve.
This is an exciting time, as it symbolizes our renewed commitment to providing the highest quality of service and care.
